The “Awards Ceremony of the 24th IBDC” was held at Conference Room 402, Hall 1, Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center on March 9, 2022, the first day of the “Taipei Cycle” show, where award-winning entries will be unveiled and two leading corporations in the bicycle industry, Giant and Merida, will also present awards at the event as a recognition of the designers’ devotion to the concept of the original design of cycles.
It’s the 24th event this year, the International Bicycle Design Competition (IBDC), which is held in Taiwan, and is the world’s first bicycle design competition to introduce creative design and original concepts of bicycles. To date, it has drawn designers from 87 nations with nearly 15,000 entries to contend. IBDC is meant to help fuel Taiwanese cycling industry’s remarkable manufacturing capability with the globally abundant energy of creative design, where in particular with bicycles having become sport, health, recreational and pleasure vehicles instead of just a transportation tool, only the development of new needs and new ideas can take the new market.
The competition theme of the 24th IBDC is “Intelligence, Sustainability, and Living from Heart”. This year sees 157 entries from 13 nations including the US, UK, Italy, Australia, and others; and, of the 17 award-winning works, the Gold Award winning ones will grab the industrial trend, impressing viewers with the ingenious design of smart tech-assisted e-bike that inspires innovated products to showcase the new lifestyle and feeling design.
