MOEA-Supported Project Drives the Future of Sustainable E-Bike Technology at Taiwan Innotech Expo 2025

The Taiwan Innotech Expo (TIE) aims to showcase the latest innovative technologies and products from both domestic and international companies, promoting industrial upgrading, transformation, and global collaboration. This year’s expo theme, “AI-Driven Cross-Domain Innovation: Smartly Shaping the Future”, was held from October 16 to 18, 2025, and featured the latest research and applications from Taiwan’s five key trusted industries.

Supported by technology projects from the Department of Industrial Technology under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), the Cycling and Health Tech Industry R&D Center (CHC) showcases its latest innovation: the E-Mountain Bike with Automatic Gear Shifting, and warmly invites industry professionals to visit.

As green energy and sports trends continue to grow, e-bikes have emerged as a leading low-carbon transportation solution. At TIE, CHC highlights how advanced technology can enhance both sustainability and riding performance. The newly developed E-MTB leverages real-time riding data to automatically adjust gears for smoother and more effortless riding. The system improves shifting efficiency by over 50% compared to traditional gear systems, making steep climbs and long-distance rides easier to handle.

Furthermore, employing a Model-Based Design (MBD) process for the bike frame integrates its design, simulation, and validation. This approach slashes development time by over 75%, showcasing Taiwan’s R&D strength in the E-Bike industry. The product is expected to generate annual revenue exceeding tens of millions of NTD and represents a significant milestone in advancing high-value, low-carbon mobility in Taiwan.
