CIIC Drives Regional Innovation and Industrial Upgrading in Chiayi and Yunlin Over 900 Enterprises Upgraded; NT$35 Billion in Economic Value Created

Chiayi Industry Innovation and Research Center (CIIC), under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), held its "R&D Achievements Exhibition" today (April 22). Since its establishment in 2011, CIIC has supported more than 900 enterprises in advancing their technologies, generating nearly NT$35 billion in industrial value.

In collaboration with four national research institutes—Food Industry Research and Development Institute, Metal Industries Research & Development Centre All Rights Reserved, Precision Machinery Research & Development Center, and the Cycling & Health Tech Industry R&D Center—CIIC has strengthened the technological transformation of SMEs in the Yunlin-Chiayi region.

A key highlight of the exhibition was the debut of Taiwan’s first AI-driven process control and pilot production platform for plant-based beverages. The technology enables high-precision formulation and production of high-quality plant-based milk, solving common challenges such as poor solubility and unstable emulsification.

CIIC also announced the signing of technical cooperation agreements with four major companies, including Gaoye Health Biotechnology, showcasing a new milestone in industry-academia collaboration. Over the past 14 years, CIIC has helped 163 local enterprises secure government R&D funding and conducted over 500 pilot production projects.

The "Derlin Smart Wood Experience System" developed by the Cycling & Health Tech Industry R&D Center will be launched in collaboration with the Aimu Village Cultural Park.    To accelerate smart manufacturing, CIIC is building an AI-driven manufacturing platform and talent development hub for food and extraction processing, aiming to shorten product development cycles and bolster Taiwan’s industrial competitiveness in the face of global trade uncertainties.
