Bicycling Alliance for Sustainability, BAS

In recent years, since countries all over the world have paid a lot more attention to issues like climate change and carbon footprint, many international or national organizations have tried to announce some initiatives or declarations to support the idea. For instance, the European Union (EU) implemented the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), which began from January 1, 2023, to regulate the carbon emissions, and eventually could achieve carbon neutrality in 2050.

In Taiwan, a bicycle related organization that aims to keep playing the key role in the global bicycle supply chain and ESG issues was founded, which is called “Bicycling Alliance for Sustainability (BAS)”.

The Bicycling Alliance for Sustainability (BAS) was convened by Giant Group and consisted of a variety of bicycle companies in 2022. The purpose of BAS is to lead the bicycle industry to become a sustainable industry, and prioritize reducing the carbon emissions of bicycle consumption and production, making bicycles a real green product.
